Article
EasyJet is a famous European airline that sells cheap airplane tickets. Recently, the company agreed to accept a takeover offer. This means another company will buy EasyJet and own it. The deal is worth 5.2 billion pounds, which is a very large amount of money.
Who Wanted to Buy EasyJet?
A company called Castlelake, based in the United States, wanted to purchase EasyJet. Castlelake makes money by buying other companies and making them successful. However, EasyJet said no to their first four offers. The leaders of EasyJet rejected these offers because they did not think the price was high enough.
Why Did EasyJet Finally Say Yes?
After four rejections, Castlelake made a fifth offer. This time, the price was much better. EasyJet's leaders decided this offer was fair and good for the company. They agreed 'in principle,' which means they basically said yes, but some small details still need to be finished.
What Does This Mean?
When a company buys another company, changes often happen. New owners may change how the business works. They might change prices, add new routes, or hire new workers. Castlelake said they want to help EasyJet grow and improve.
Next Steps
The deal is not completely finished yet. EasyJet workers and other people who own small pieces of the company must still vote. If they approve, the sale will happen. This is how big business purchases work. Many people must agree before the company officially changes hands.
