The United States has added new taxes on products from many countries. These taxes are called tariffs. The government says these tariffs help stop bad working conditions. Workers in some countries do not get fair pay or safe jobs.
What Are Tariffs?
A tariff is a tax on things we buy from other countries. When you buy a product from another country, the price goes up. This makes foreign products more expensive. Then people want to buy American products instead.
Why Did This Happen?
The US Supreme Court made a decision in February. This court is very important. They said the old tariffs were not okay. So the government made new tariffs. These new taxes replace the old ones.
Which Countries Are Affected?
Dozens of countries now have these new taxes. This is a big change. Many countries sell things to America. Now those things will cost more money for Americans.
Why Does It Matter?
The government wants to help workers. It wants to stop companies from using workers in bad conditions. When products cost more, companies may move to countries with better jobs. This could help workers everywhere get fairer treatment.
