Article

A Spanish city got very busy this week. About 60,000 people came to the city in just one day. The city is called Ceuta. It is in Africa, but it is part of Spain. These people are migrants. They want to find new homes and jobs.

A Very Large Number

The city leader said 60,000 people arrived in 24 hours. That is a huge number! Ceuta has about 83,600 people who live there already. The new arrivals are more than 70% of the city. This means the city became much more crowded very fast.

Who Are These People?

Most of these people are migrants. They come from many places. They want better lives. Some want jobs. Some want safety. Some want to be with family. They travel to Ceuta to try to go to Europe.

A Small City

Ceuta is a small place. It sits between Africa and Europe. It is very close to Spain. Many migrants try to go to Europe through Ceuta. When lots of people come very fast, it is hard for the city to help them all.

What Happens Now?

The city is now very full. The leaders must help all these people. They need food, water, and places to sleep. This is hard work. Spain and other countries are talking about how to help. This is a big challenge for Ceuta.
