A gas field is a place under the ground or under the water. Gas is under there. Companies dig holes to get the gas. They use the gas to make heat and power for homes and businesses.

The Jackdaw gas field is in the North Sea. The North Sea is near Scotland. It is far from the land. Ships and big machines work on the water there. Many gas fields are in the North Sea.
Why is This Important?
The government needs gas for people. Gas gives energy to homes. Gas also helps factories work. This new field will give Scotland more gas. More gas means more jobs for workers.
Some People Say No
Some people do not like this plan. They say gas is bad for the air. They want clean energy instead. Clean energy comes from sun and wind. But the government thinks this gas field is still good for the country.
