Many children in England use screens in school every day. Doctors say too much screen time is bad for their health. Over 150 doctors wrote a letter to the government about this problem. They want schools to use fewer tablets and laptops.
Screen Time Hurts Eyes
Doctors see many children with eye problems now. Short-sightedness is very common. In 1990, about 24 out of 100 children had this problem. By 2023, almost 36 out of 100 children had it. Screens are one reason for this change. Children need to look at things far away, not just at screens.
What Can Schools Do?
Schools use screens to teach. But doctors say children need other activities too. Children need to play, talk with friends, and sleep well. The government is making new rules about screens in schools. Schools must find a good balance between screens and other learning.
