A high-speed train collided with a stationary train near Madrid on Wednesday morning, killing at least 68 people and injuring dozens. The moving train, operated by Renfe and carrying 397 passengers, struck an Iryo train that had stopped on the tracks after experiencing a computer failure. The impact was severe enough to send several carriages tumbling down an embankment. Officials characterized the incident as one of Europe's worst train disasters in modern history and Spain's deadliest railway accident in over a decade.
