Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, reported that 6.3 billion dollars in digital assets were compromised in what two security analytics firms believe is the largest hack in the platform's history. Investigators traced the breach to a North Korean hacking group called TraderTraitor, who exploited a compromised engineer's laptop to authorize unauthorized withdrawals. Within hours, other cryptocurrency platforms froze approximately 2.4 billion dollars of the stolen assets, preventing their movement through the financial system. Binance stated it would cover all losses and disabled withdrawals temporarily while securing its environment.
