Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced that hackers stole $6.3 billion in digital assets during what is believed to be the largest theft of its kind. The company said it had secured approximately $3 billion of the stolen funds, though much remains in the hands of unidentified attackers. Initially, Binance attributed the breach to a compromised engineer's laptop that allowed unauthorized withdrawals, but subsequent investigation revealed the attack was far more extensive. Analytics firms have linked the hack to a North Korean hacking unit.
