Article

Buy Now Pay Later, or BNPL, lets you purchase items and pay for them in instalments instead of all at once. Since July, these services have been officially regulated, which means the companies offering them must perform affordability checks before approving your purchase. If the check shows you cannot reliably repay the debt, your transaction will be blocked. This new protection aims to help shoppers avoid taking on more debt than they can manage, but it also means some people may find themselves unable to use these services when they previously could.
