England's National Health Service will soon test a new approach to cancer detection in approximately 200 general practice surgeries. The trial involves blood tests designed to identify multiple cancers simultaneously by searching for specific proteins or DNA fragments that may indicate malignancy. Patients aged 45 and over who experience vague symptoms such as abdominal pain or persistent bloating will be invited to participate. This government-funded study, led by the University of Birmingham, aims to determine whether these tests are sufficiently accurate for broader implementation across the NHS.
