Article

Russell Brand, a 51-year-old British entertainer, was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. A jury deliberated for eight-and-a-half hours before reaching verdicts on charges spanning allegations from six women across a decade beginning in 1999. Brand was cleared of two other rape charges and one attempted indecent assault count. The judge, Mr Justice Bennathan, told Brand to expect a significant custodial term. Brand was remanded into custody and denied bail, awaiting sentencing scheduled for Monday.
