LinkedIn Is Still the Most Powerful Sales Tool You Are Probably Ignoring
By Digby R. Kerr · Kerr University™ · All Articles
I have built a LinkedIn presence of over 28,500 followers and connections — organically, without a single paid advertisement. Here is what I know: most professionals are leaving extraordinary opportunity untouched on this platform every single day.
Why LinkedIn Works Differently Now
LinkedIn has evolved from a digital resume into a publishing platform where executives, buyers, and decision-makers actively seek expertise. The people who benefit most are not the ones with the most connections — they are the ones who show up consistently with genuine insight.
The Content Formula That Works
Every post I write follows a simple principle: give before you ask. Lead with value. Share a lesson, a story, a hard truth, an observation from your career. Do not pitch. Do not promote. Educate. The leads follow naturally.
The Hook Is Everything
Your first line determines whether anyone reads the rest. It must create curiosity or surface a pain point. "Here is what 35 years in global logistics taught me about closing enterprise deals" works. "Excited to share my latest update" does not.
Consistency Over Virality
One post that goes viral will not build your business. Fifty posts over six months that consistently demonstrate expertise will. LinkedIn rewards consistent creators with dramatically expanded reach. Show up three times a week minimum.
The Comment Strategy Most People Miss
Commenting thoughtfully on posts in your industry is one of the fastest ways to build visibility. Do not just write "Great post." Add a perspective, a contrasting view, a relevant story. Your comments are your calling card.
If you are a professional, an entrepreneur, or a consultant and you are not actively building your LinkedIn presence, you are competing with one hand behind your back.
